I am nonplussed by the reviews of this machine. I have had one for about 6 months. It worked well at first and then the chute that the grounds drop through began to clog. I had to invent a technique involving a venturi brush and compressed air to remove the accumulated grounds. Now it functions but produces very weak "expresso" (more like coffee). If you put the grinder to fine it makes tea strength coffee and if you back off it makes coffee strength "expresso". An examination of the dregs indicates it must use about a level teaspoon of coffee per "double expresso". I am looking to replace it I am so disappointed but upon cruising the web for a replacement I keep seeing rave reviews of this unit. Given that I have no idea how to evaluate any reviews I am seeing on other units.I have posted essentially this review about how poorly this performs both here and at the Saeco site. It seems like all the negative reviews are being censored on this device. The Saeco folks sent a note indicating that my review violated their posting policy. I guess all their machines are "above average"

I purchased this coffee machine at Costco online when it was on sale almost 3 years ago, and have enjoyed my morning coffee very much. The money I saved from going to Starbucks has paid off for this machine long time ago. This machine makes great latte (it tastes just as good as Starbucks coffee) and is very easy to clean and maintain. The only thing that I wish I had is to have two coffee bean compartments separately for regular coffee and decaf (well, I am not even sure if such machine exists, let alone for an entry level model). Overall I am very happy with this machine and would recommend it to anyone who is thinking about purchasing a basic one.

I love this machine!! The coffee is excellent!! It does require replenishing and emptying more often than my last (jura) machine but overall, it's easier. Haven't tried the steamer as I have a Capresso Milk Frother that is to die for!! So, coffee from the Saeco and foam from the Capresso - priceless!!
